At the Imperial base on Mandalore, Bo-Katan and the other Mandalorians fled the pursuing Imperial commandos through the tunnels. Bo-Katan contacted Axe Woves, who was jetting up through the storm clouds of Mandalore. Two commandos dragged Mando through the tunnels. Before they could get there, Mando broke free with the help of Grogu piloting his IG-12 mech suit. After defeating the Imperial commandos, Din contacted Bo. Bo-Katan and the other Mandalorians jetted out through openings in the ceiling. In his command center, an armored commando informed Moff Gideon that the Tie Bombers and Intercepters had launched. Moff Gideon said the Mandalorian had escaped and that he would deal with Din Djarin himself.
Mando and Grogu then went to find Gideon with the help of R5-D4 scomped into the base. Inside the Mandalorian light cruiser, Axe Woves ordered the Mandalorians to load the Gauntlets and send down all available forces. Mando called R5 to help him open some shield gates. Din passed through the shield gates one by one and took out the Imperial commandos. Mando and IG-12 then arrived in a room full of bacta tanks. Inside there were clones of Moff Gideon. Suddenly, one of the clones opened his eyes. Mando finished his work on the control station, and all the tanks started to burst, so the two left the flooding room. Bo-Katan and her group jetpacked toward an outcropping of rock spires. The Mandalorians disappeared into a crevasse that descended beneath the crust. Later, the planetary survivors lead the group through a network of natural underground chambers. One of the planetary survivors said they would be safe there for a while. There was a lot of plant life there.
The Armorer told Lady Kryze that her reinforcements had arrived on the comms. The Gauntlets passed the storm clouds and made visual contact with the surface of Mandalore. Bo-Katan and her group jetted out of the crevasse. The Mandalorian reinforcements freefell, and The Armorer dived after them. The Mandalorians activated their jetpacks and joined Bo-Katan's group to create one large army. Bo-Katan withdrew the Darksaber and led the Mandalorians in a dive toward the surface. The united Mandalorians descended upon the fissure that opened to the underground Imperial base. They swarmed down inside the launching chamber. Below, an army of Imperial commandos rocketed upward from a platform. As the two opposing forces closed in, the Mandalorians readied their weapons. Blaster fire erupted from both sides as the two forces met. The Armorer used her forging tools to take the commandos. Bo-Katan and The Armorer used their respective weapons to swat away blaster bolts. Mando and Grogu entered the council room. Suddenly, the door shut behind them, the schematic hologram of the base blinked off, and another set of doors opened behind it. Moff Gideon was there. He was angry about Mando destroying the clones.
Mando attacked with both pistols, but Gideon fired a wrist missle. Mando dodged it and charged in guns blazing. Din used his jetpacked straight at the Moff, but the suit was too powerful, and Gideon hurled Mando into a crate. The three red Praetorian Guards emerged into the docking bay. The Praetorian Guards surrounded Din Djarin. A zap to his helmet dropped him onto his hands and knees, where he found himself immobilized by the strong current. Luckily, Grogu entered the docking bay in his IG-12 mech suit. He pressed the 'No' button multiple times. The Praetorian Guards went to attack Grogu. Mando tried to go after them, but Gideon stooped him short by blasting him in the back with a wrist missle. He stood up, but the Moff fired a lariat and yanked Din back to the ground.
Meanwhile, the Mandalorians continued to fight the armored Imperials in the launching chamber. Koska Reeves shot one Imperial sending him careening into a cohort. The Armorer flew around, battering enemies with her smithing hammer. Two commandos were on Koska's tail, so she took evasive action. She skidded across the landing deck, slid off its far end, turned in midair, and launched missiles from her knee armor. They hit their mark, taking out the two commandos. Inside the console room, The Red Guards cut down the IG causing Grogu to spring out of it with a Jedi leap. Grogu leaped onto a suspended rig. He hopped and flipped from pipe to pipe. Mando freed himself from the lariat, but Gideon hosed
him with a flame thrower. Din continued the fight, but he was out-muscled by the suit. Bo-Katan saw the fighting on the platform, so she swooped down and knocked Gideon over. Bo-Katan told Mando that she had the situation under control and to go save Grogu. Mando grabbed the two Imperial pistols from the floor and rushed off. Bo-Katan Kryze ignited the Darksaber, and Moff Gideon held a small rod that extended into a double-ended electrostaff. The two began a dual. In the council room, one of the Praetorian Guards loped off a section of the suspended rig with an electro-bisento causing Grogu to fall and get trapped under the heavy metal pipes. The Praetorian Guards were closing in for the kill when Din came to save the Force-sensitive child. Mando shot two of the Praetorian Guards in the back. Grogu flung one guard back with the Force. Mando took the business end of the electro-bisento to his head and landed in front of his young ward. As the scythe-like blade swung down at Din, Grogu used the Force to stop it. Working together, Mando and Grogu were able to defeat the Praetorian Guards.
In the skies over Mandalore, the light cruiser dived from the clouds engulfed in flames. Axe contacted Bo and Koska. He told them to clear everyone out because he would destroy the base.
Bo-Katan attacked Moff Gideon, but he griped her wielding hand and crushed the Darksaber in her grip. He pulled the Darksaber from her and threw it on the ground. Gideon pulled off her helmet and used his electrostaff to shock her in the gut, which pushed her back. Mando came onto the landing pad and used both pistols to blast Gideon in the back. Moff Gideon returned fire with a wrist-mounted weapon.
Meanwhile, the light cruiser hurtled down from the sky, setting a direct course for the mouth of Gideon's base. On the bridge, Axe blew out one of the windscreens with a wrist dart and jetpacked out of the ship. Grogu used the Force to move the Moff toward the platform's edge. Moff Gideon tried to reach for his staff, but Grogu used the Force to throw it off the platform. He held his arms then fire engulfed Gideon. Bo-Katan and Mando used their bodies to shield Grogu as the fire rushed toward them. Grogu used the Force to create a protective bubble around them.
The Armorer stood knee-deep in the living waters. Ragnar Vizsla descended the steps and knelt behind the Armorer. Mando arrived holding Grogu on his hip. He then took the Creed. After Ragnar finished, he bowed his head, and the Armorer poured water over his blue helmet. Ragnar rose and walked back up the stairs. Din Djarin stepped through the ranks of Mandalorians with Grogu in his arms. Mando stepped down and placed Grogu on the last step before the water, then waded in and faced the Armorer. Din wanted Grogu to be his Mandalorian apprentice, but Grogu was too young to take the Creed. Din asked the Armorer if Grogu's parents gave permission, he would then be able to become a Mandalorian apprentice. The Armorer said that was the case, but Grogu's parents were far from there if they were alive. Din Djarin then adopted Grogu. The Armorer said Grogu was now Din Grogu, Mandalorian apprentice. She told Din that he must leave Mandalore and take Grogu on his journeys. Grogu looked down into the living waters and used the Force to connect with the Mythosaur.
At the great forge, the Armorer gave Bo-Katan a torch, and Bo-Katan kindled the Great Forge once again. The whole citizens of Mandalore cleaned their forearm braces together. Axe Woves shouted 'For Mandalore!' multiple times, and the citizens of Mandalore repeated.
Mando headed to the New Republic Adelphi Outpost because he had a business proposition for Captain Teva. Din wanted to work for the New Republic on a case-by-case basis and as an independent contractor. Carson Teva said it was against regulation, but he said he wouldn't tell them. Din said he wanted a small advance. The advance was a scrap IG series assassin droid head on a shelf above. He wanted it for parts to fix IG-11. On Nevarro, High Magistrate Greef Karga gave Din Djarin a cabin for all he had done for Nevarro. Din said he had a gift for Greef as well. IG-11 came into the town square with his newly painted red and white chest. IG-11 told the citizens of Nevarro that he was their new marshal.
Beside Mando's Adobe-style hut was his N-1 starfighter. While Grogu played beside a pond, Mando stepped out of his home. Din sat on a shaded chair and put one foot on a low-hitching post. He watched Grogu using the Foorce to hold a frog up in midair. Grogu then dropped the frog.
